Building Construction

The Building Construction classes have moved onto their next job, finishing CCHS principal, Matt Fisher's basement.  "I didn't want the builders to finish the basement because I was going to finish it myself, and wanted to save some money, " said Fisher.   The students are putting in insulation and installing drywall.  They are also applying sheet rock in the corners and in the gaps of the drywall.  "The construction class was looking for a job to sort of fill in before their next job so Mr. Ed Fisher decided to finish drywalling  the basement," said Matt Fisher.  The class worked on some of the framing and wiring of the house last year when it was being built.  "I am very pleased with their work.  It is going a lot faster since there are three periods this year instead of just one," said Matt Fisher.  The classes will not do any of the carpeting, molding, texturing, and finishing work in the basement.

Taylor and Oscar work on sheet rocking the corners of the ceiling in Fishers basement. All of the drywall is up in the basement but some sheet rocking still needs to be done.  The ladder is where the kitchen area will be.

Shawn is putting sheet rock in the joints to help hold the drywall together, and make a stronger joint. Mr. Fisher gives Jeff some pointers on sheet rocking the corner of the ceiling.
