Body Conditioning Weight Testing
Every quarter the first and fifth hour Body Conditioning classes have a time where they test out and see how much maximum weight they can lift. Other students in the class help spot and so does Mr. Bessler. The majority of the class is always guys and only a couple girls. "The importance of testing is to find out what they have gained from lifting between test times. It also helps with the schedule that we will set up for each student for the next quarter of testing," said Mr. Bessler. What kind of lifting the students are going to do, determines the percent of their weight they have to lift. If they are going to lift bench or clean then it is 60% of their weight they have to lift, and if it is box squat then it increases to 70% of their weight. "We test once every quarter which is in September, December, March and May. I also require that each time they test out that they increase 7%-11% from last time," said Mr. Bessler. The classes have not yet broken any records set from years before. Amanda S. box squated 535 pounds, and Eric F. squated 745 pounds.
